Darren Russell, employed as an English teacher in China, left no one untouched by his kindness. He was murdered in Guangzhou, China. The original song, “Dancing in the Rain” is based on the Pearl and Russell Family’s goal to diminish violence and reach out for peace. The Daniel Pearl Foundation promotes cross cultural understanding through journalism, music, and Maxine Russell honors Darren’s memory by sponsoring a troop in Iraq/Kuwait, helping other homicide survivors with free resources and grief education support, training therapy dogs for patients in hospitals, paying tuition for poor students in China to attend school, and donating to “Paws for Purple Hearts” a program which has veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) train service dogs for vets with physical disabilities. Sales from the CD will go to “Paws for Purple Hearts.”
